Friends of Felines Rescue

est. 2020

👋 An Introduction 👋

Founded in 2020, Friends of Felines Rescue initially began in Rio Linda and now proudly serves both Rio Linda and its surrounding areas. Our mission is simple: to tackle cat overpopulation while supporting local communities. We're all about nurturing and protecting our furry friends by providing loving foster homes for orphaned, sick, and injured cats until they're healthy and ready for their forever homes. We're big advocates for spaying and neutering, not just for our beloved pets but also for our community cat colonies. As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, we're dedicated to the art of Trap-Neuter-Return, lending a helping paw by providing free training on trapping, traps for those in need, and information on low-cost surgeries. We rescue kittens and friendly strays, prepping them for loving families. Our aim? Spreading love and care for our cat friends!

From Stray to Stay

Our rescue through adoption approach.

Our Rescue Approach

At Friends of Felines Rescue, we rescue from diverse sources – cats at risk of euthanasia in overcrowded shelters, owner surrenders, and friendly ‘TNR’ colony cats. We work to educate by offering free cat trapping training and lending traps, also providing info on affordable spay/neuter services. Our commitment includes rescuing and prepping young kittens and friendly strays for adoption. Advocacy is our game, aiming to boost community awareness and protect outdoor cats' lives and welfare.

The Adoption Experience

First things first, you can scope out our super cute cats online or swing by Petco for some face-to-face furry encounters. When you find a cat that steals your heart, shoot us an adoption inquiry. Then comes the fun part – you get to meet your potential new family member in person! Spend some quality time together and if it feels right, seal the deal by signing an adoption contract. That's it! You're ready to whisk your new kitty home for endless cuddles and purr-fect moments.

What is Trap - Neuter - Return (TNR)?

Ever wondered about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)? It's kind of our superhero move for our outdoor furry pals!

Here's the scoop (get it? 😉):

Trap-Neuter-Return, or TNR, is our savvy strategy to lend a helping paw to our outdoor cat community. It's all about trapping our outdoor feline friends, giving them a little snip-snip (the neuter part), and returning them to their stomping grounds. Why, you ask? Well, it's a game-changer for these outdoor kitties! By neutering and vaccinating them, we not only control overpopulation but also improve their health and quality of life. That's the magic of TNR – it's a win-win for everyone, ensuring happier, healthier outdoor cat communities.
